SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 — Selangor has declared October 25 a special public holiday to commemorate the silver jubilee of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s reign.

State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the holiday would be replaced on October 26 as the anniversary falls on a Sunday, The Star reported.

“Since the date falls on a Sunday, the following day, October 26 (Monday) is designated as the replacement public holiday,” he said during a press conference announcing details of the celebration.

He added that the holiday would be observed in the same way as the September 1 public holiday marking Selangor’s overall victory at Sukma 2026.

The September 1 holiday applied to all federal and state civil servants serving in Selangor, while private sector employers were encouraged to grant leave at their discretion.

Ahmad Fadzli said the jubilee celebration would feature around 20 programmes and official events, scheduled between September 28 and November 1.

The full list of events will be published on the social media platforms of the Selangor State Secretary’s Office.
