SEPANG, Oct 3 — The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is working closely with its transport partners and relevant authorities to strengthen traffic, shuttle and crowd management arrangements for the Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (GP) 2026 race.

SIC said the measures followed challenges experienced by some fans travelling to and from the circuit yesterday, particularly during the evening departure period.

“The experience and safety of our fans remain our highest priority at Sepang International Circuit,” it said in a statement today.

The circuit operator advised fans attending the weekend race to plan their journeys in advance and refer to the latest travel information on its official social media channels.

Fans arriving at or departing from the circuit are also advised to follow the directions of officials and on-ground signage, as traffic arrangements may be adjusted according to prevailing conditions.

SIC thanked fans for their patience and cooperation, adding that it looked forward to welcoming them for an enjoyable and safe day at the circuit.

Yesterday, several ticket holders took to social media to voice their frustration over severe gridlock when exiting the circuit, with some reporting lengthy waits for shuttle buses connecting parking areas and public transport hubs.

In July, Formula 1 confirmed that Malaysia would host the Gulf Air Bahrain GP from October 2 to 4, following an agreement involving Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.

The agreement keeps the Bahrain GP on the 2026 F1 calendar after the race was cancelled earlier this season due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia. — Bernama
