Six including two children survive falling tree crash in Melaka

JASIN, Aug 20 — Six individuals including two children had a narrow escape when the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a fallen tree at KM 24, Kampung Air Panas, Bemban here last night.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) public relations officer Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said his department received an emergency call at 9.46 pm and a team of personnel from Jasin Bestari Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was dispatched to the location.

“Upon arriving at the scene, it was found that a fallen tree had hit a car.

“However, all individuals in the vehicle were safe without any injuries after being successfully removed by members of the public before the rescue team arrived,” he said in a statement today.

He said his party was informed that the incident occurred when all the victims were on their way home and the vehicle was about to enter the intersection leading to their residence.

He said the Jasin Bestari BBP fire brigade team, with the assistance of Jasin BBP, carried out the work of cutting and clearing the tree and the operation was completed at 11.01 pm. — Bernama
