KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes Malaysia’s diplomatic mission at the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit in India will achieve its objectives, while his light-hearted reference to himself as “Guru” in a Facebook post after arriving in New Delhi caught the attention of netizens.

Anwar said he was bringing Malaysia’s voice to the prestigious global platform, guided by the Madani Diplomacy framework.

“Alhamdulillah, Guru has safely arrived in New Delhi, India to represent the country on the world stage at the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit.

“Please pray that this diplomatic mission achieves its objectives. May the students learn from Guru how Madani Diplomacy is put into practice. Slayyy,” he said in the post.

The aircraft carrying Anwar and his delegation landed at the Air Force Station (AFS) Palam, New Delhi at 6.30pm local time (9pm Malaysian time).

Tomorrow (September 13), the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the opening session of the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit and deliver a National Statement on Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth.

The summit, hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, carries the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, with a focus on strengthening resilience, economic cooperation as well as trade and investment reforms. — Bernama
