KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast significant weather conditions in western Sabah, the Federal Territory of Labuan and northern Sarawak following the convergence of strong westerly winds expected from May 30 to June 1.
It said the conditions could result in strong winds and rough seas, as well as the formation of squall lines expected to bring wetter and windier conditions over the affected areas and waters.
“In this regard, MetMalaysia has issued a strong winds and rough seas warning for the South China Sea and the northern Straits of Melaka waters, effective until June 1,” it said in a statement today.
The public is advised to stay updated on the latest weather developments by referring to the official website at www.met.gov.my, MET Malaysia’s official social media platforms and the myCuaca application for the latest and verified information. — Bernama
