DUNGUN, Oct 26 — Three family members died in a collision involving two vehicles at Kilometre 90 of the Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan trunk road near the Bukit Bauk Water Treatment Plant here yesterday.

Dungun police chief Supt Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said police received information about the crash at 5.15 pm involving a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) four-wheel-drive vehicle.

He said two victims in the Nissan Grand Livina MPV, identified as Mohamad Zulkefli Ishak, 32, and his wife Norshila Zali, 36, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

He said the third victim, Mohamad Zulkefli’s younger brother, Muhammad Alif Syukri Ishak, 18, died around 7 pm while receiving treatment at Dungun Hospital.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the MPV carrying the three family members, which was travelling from Kuantan towards Kuala Terengganu, collided with the four-wheel-drive vehicle coming from the opposite direction,” he said.

Nik Ab Halim said the two occupants of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, Mohamad Syafiq Nasrullah Said, 39, and Muhammad Fadhlan Abd Manan, 32, sustained minor injuries.

He said the bodies were sent to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu for post-mortem examinations. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
