KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Three Myanmar nationals, including a woman, have been remanded for seven days until Monday to assist in the investigation into the death of a fellow countryman in Kepong.

Sentul deputy police chief Supt Jasni Zolpa said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were arrested last Monday.

“Initial investigations found that the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding that led to a fight between the victim and all the suspects, who were intoxicated, resulting in the victim’s death,” he said at a press conference at the Sentul district police headquarters today.

He said the body of the 39-year-old victim was discovered under the MRT Metro Prima bridge along Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 1, Kepong, by members of the public at about 1.40pm last Sunday, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

In another development, Jasni said police detained four individuals — one man and three women — to assist in investigations into a fight in Sentul believed to have been caused by personal disputes and debt issues.

“All the suspects were remanded for two days, and the remand period ends today. Police have also identified three more suspects, and efforts to track them down and arrest them are ongoing,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
