KUALA KANGSAR, Sept 1 — A three-year-old boy was reportedly found dead on a road beneath the Victoria Bridge in Enggor here yesterday evening.

Sinar Harian reported that Abdul Rafee Abdul Halim was taken to Kuala Kangsar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7.40pm.

Sungai Siput district police chief Supt Charan Ai Wan said the boy had been walking across the bridge while holding his father’s hand before he was found about five metres below it at around 6.30pm.

“After the incident, the victim’s mother, who was at the scene, saw her son on the road beneath the bridge,” he was quoted as saying.

The youngest of five siblings, Abdul Rafee had travelled with his family from Kluang, Johor, for a holiday in Kuala Kangsar and was visiting the bridge when the incident occurred.

The Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council subsequently cordoned off the bridge with safety tape.
