Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected in 12 states, KL this evening, says MetMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas across 12 states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur until 6pm today.

In a statement today, MetMalaysia said the adverse weather in the Peninsula would affect the whole of Melaka and eight districts in Johor, namely Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Johor Bahru, Kota Tinggi, Batu Pahat, Tangkak and Muar.

In Kedah, the affected areas are Kuala Muda, Kulim, Baling, Sik, Padang Terap, Pendang and Pokok Sena, while in Penang, the warning covers Seberang Perai Utara.

The warning also covers several areas in Perak, namely Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, Muallim, Larut Matang and Selama, and in Kelantan, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Kota Bharu and Bachok.

In Terengganu, the areas affected are Hulu Terengganu, Setiu, Dungun, Kemaman and Kuala Nerus, while in Pahang, the warning covers Jerantut, Rompin and Bentong. In Selangor, it covers Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Petaling, while in Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas are Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin.

Meanwhile, in Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Sarikei (Sarikei, Maradong and Pakan), Betong (Kabong and Saratok), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Samarahan, Sri Aman (Pantu and Lingga), Mukah (Daro, Tanjung Manis and Matu), and Limbang.

In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior (Sipitang, Tambunan, Keningau, Sook, Membakut, Beaufort and Tenom), the West Coast (Ranau, Papar, Penampang, Kota Belud, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran), Kudat (Kota Marudu) and Sandakan (Telupid). — Bernama
