Thunderstorms, heavy rain to hit KL and 12 states until 7pm, says MetMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Kuala Lumpur and 12 states until 7pm tonight.

MetMalaysia in a statement today announced that the bad weather is expected to occur throughout Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu as well as three areas in Penang including Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah dan Seberang Perai Selatan. 

In Perak, the affected areas are Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, Muallim, Selama, Kerian and Larut Matang, Kelantan (Gua Musang, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Bachok) and Pahang (Rompin, Pekan, Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Temerloh, Bentong, Bera and Jerantut).

Similar warnings have also been issued for Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat), Negeri Sembilan (Tampin, Rembau, Jelebu, Seremban, Jempol and Kuala Pilah), and Johor (Segamat).

In Sarawak, severe weather is expected in Sarikei (Sarikei, Maradong and Julau), Kapit (Song) while in Sabah, it will affect the West Coast (Ranau), Sandakan (Paitan, Telupid and Labuk & Sugut). — Bernama
