Thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rain forecast across nine states until 8pm

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to prevail until 8 pm today in nine states, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

It said in a statement that such weather would be experienced in Kelantan, Kedah (Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar), Pahang (Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera and Pekan) and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman).

Similar conditions are expected in Hulu Selangor in Selangor, as well as Jelebu and Jempol in Negeri Sembilan.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching (Lundu and Kuching), Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa and Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Miri (Beluru and Marudi) and Limbang.

Also affected are the interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan and Tambunan), West Coast (Ranau), as well as Tawau and Sandakan in Sabah. — Bernama
