Two killed in separate Perak accidents involving lorry, three vehicles and family car

 

IPOH, Aug 8 — Two people were killed in separate accidents, one near the West Coast Expressway (WCE) toll plaza near Teluk Intan and the other at Kampung Pulau Juar near Kampung Gajah.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the Teluk Intan accident today involved a 25-tonne empty lorry and two vehicles, a Toyota Vellfire and a Honda HRV.

He said that in the 6.30 am incident, there were two women, aged 54 and 59, in the Toyota Vellfire.

“The 59-year-old driver, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by members of the public, but the 54-year-old was trapped in the front passenger seat and was confirmed dead by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.

“A 50-year-old man in the Honda HRV suffered minor injuries, while the 31-year-old lorry driver escaped unhurt,” he said in a statement today.

Sabarodzi said the remains of the 54-year-old woman were handed over to the police, while the injured victims received initial treatment from MOH personnel before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Meanwhile, in the Kampung Gajah incident, Sabarodzi said a Proton Wira, with six family members – a man, a woman, three boys and a girl – on board, skidded into a drain at about 10.50 pm yesterday.

He said the woman and four children were safely removed from the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived at about 11 pm.

“The man, who drove the car, was found unconscious. He was extricated by firefighters and handed over to Health Ministry personnel for treatment and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene.

“However, Mohd Khirzee Musa, 39, was pronounced dead,” he said, adding that his remains were handed over to police. — Bernama
