IPOH, Oct 24 — Two men were found dead by a riverbank after swimming in a river, near Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Tonggang, Tanjung Rambutan, here today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident involving two victims, aged 42 and 50, at 2.55 pm.
Upon arriving at the location, the firefighters had to walk along a 600-metre jungle trekking path to reach both victims who were found unconscious by the riverbank.
“The rescue team then brought both victims out from across the river before the Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officers confirmed their deaths at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
He said the bodies of both victims were handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama
