JOHOR BARU, June 1 — A car skidded and crashed into a fire hydrant, sending water gushing up to four metres high along Jalan Ros Merah Utama in Taman Johor Jaya yesterday.
Seri Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the 6am incident involved a Perodua Aruz driven by a 27‑year‑old man, Harian Metro (HM) reported.
“Investigations found the vehicle was travelling from Taman Molek towards Taman Johor Jaya when the front left tyre suddenly punctured,” he said in a statement.
“The driver lost control before the car skidded and hit a hydrant on the road divider. The impact broke the hydrant, causing a strong water jet, while the car overturned onto its right side. However, the driver was not injured.”
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
The crash also disrupted water supply for nearly five hours to hundreds of residents in Taman Johor Jaya.
