JOHOR BAHRU, July 11 — Barisan Nasional (BN) has claimed victory in the 16th Johor state election, saying unofficial results showed it had won 49 of the 56 seats.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said in a Facebook post that the unofficial tally as of 8.06pm placed Pakatan Harapan (PH) at seven seats.
BN needed at least 29 seats to secure a simple majority in the Johor Legislative Assembly.
