
BACHOK, June 29 — A firefighter pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today to a charge of negligent driving that allegedly resulted in serious injuries to a four-year-old girl early this year.
Mohammad Shuhaili Shuib, 46, entered the plea before Magistrate Fakhrul Razzi Abd Hamid.
He was charged with negligently driving a Toyota Innova multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and hitting the girl at the parking area of Sri Chalet Nipah, causing serious injuries to the child, at about 10.45am on January 3 this year.
The charge was framed under Section 338 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
The court allowed Mohammad Shuhaili bail of RM2,500 with one surety and fixed August 3 for mention and submission of documents.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Aiman Syahmi Yazid, while lawyer Muhammad Habil Zainal Abidin from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) represented the accused. — Bernama
