King orders tighter airport security, urges ministries to curb drug smuggling nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia today called on the relevant ministries and agencies to tighten security controls and enhance security measures at all country’s airports and entry points.

In a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, His Majesty said the measures were important to curb drug smuggling and prevent cross-border criminal activities that could threaten public safety and order.

“Security at the country’s entry points must always be strengthened through more effective enforcement, continuous monitoring and close cooperation among all relevant agencies,” he said.

Earlier, the King granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku here. — Bernama
