
BAU, May 18 — A 54-year-old man receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after being found unconscious near the Wind Cave along Jalan Taiton here last Friday has died.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, who confirmed the death, said a report on the incident was received around 3.34pm on Saturday.
“According to the report, the victim left his home in Sebuku around 12.10pm to search for a job.
“Sometime in the evening, his family members were informed that the victim was found in the Wind Cave area and sent to Bau Hospital before being referred to SGH,” he said in a statement.
He said the victim was pronounced dead at 11.11am on Saturday.
“Preliminary investigations found no sign of foul play or suspicious injuries on the victim’s body,” he added.
Mohd Haide said police have classified the case as sudden death pending the results of a post-mortem.
In an unrelated incident, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that an elderly man was found dead in a bush along Jalan Lingga, Kampung Tanjung Beladin in Sri Aman on Saturday evening.
Bomba said it received a call at 6.46pm and dispatched a team from the Sri Aman fire station to retrieve the body.
“The deceased, 78, was found about 100 metres from the main road. The body was brought back out and handed over to the police for further action,” it said in a brief statement. — The Borneo Post
