KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — The son of former Baling Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has dismissed claims that have gone viral on social media that his father was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last night.

Mohamed Khairul Azman Abdul Azeez, through a post on Facebook today, said his father is currently at their residence and resting, thus denying unfounded reports regarding his arrest in connection with the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report.

“For those who have been asking about him, I would like to thank him very much and for your information, my father is still at home resting. Hopefully everything will be facilitated and any form of investigation will be carried out with full integrity, fairness and transparency,” he said.

Rumours about the arrest of Abdul Azeez, who is also the former chairman of Tabung Haji, began to spread widely on several social media platforms since late last night.

Abdul Azeez had previously stated that he would cooperate fully if investigated regarding the Tabung Haji RCI Report which was made public on July 29.

Last Tuesday, a special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat was held to allow the report to be tabled and debated by Dewan Rakyat members. — Bernama
