ISKANDAR PUTERI, June 8 — Former Bersatu Supreme Council member Tan Sri Noh Omar today announced that he has relinquished his position in the party and rejoined Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
He said the move nullified his Bersatu membership and that he would no longer need to submit any official letter to the party leadership.
According to Noh, he was open to rejoining Umno after noting Johor Umno’s firm stance on contesting on its own, as emphasised by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi in his speech.
“I have great respect for the leadership and principles of Johor Umno,” he said after launch of the Johor BN election machinery at the Educity Sports Complex here yesterday.
The event, officiated by BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was also attended by Johor BN chairman Onn Hafiz, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC president Tan Sri Dr SA Vigneswaran and People’s Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk Dr J Loga Balan Mohan.
Former Selangor Umno state liaison chief Noh was sacked from Umno in 2023 following a violation of party discipline during the 15th General Election, confirmed he had joined Bersatu in July 2024. — Bernama
