PARIT, June 11 — A discipline teacher was reportedly injured after being punched by a group of students at a secondary school in Kuala Kangsar on Wednesday.
The incident, which occurred around 11.30am, is said to have been triggered when the teacher cut the hair of one of the students involved, Sinar Harian (SH) reported.
Perak executive councillor for education, higher learning, youth and sports Datuk Khairuddin Abu Hanipah said the state government is awaiting an official report from the Perak Education Department (JPN).
He noted that he had yet to receive verified information and was still waiting for JPN’s findings. Khairuddin stressed that if the incident did occur, it was inappropriate as teachers are regarded as murabbi — educators who not only teach but also nurture and guide children.
Further checks are being carried out to confirm the authenticity of the case before any formal statement is issued.
Khairuddin added that students must respect their teachers even if certain aspects of the learning process may be disagreeable.
“Adab (Respect and proper conduct) and values must be placed above knowledge. Without adab, it is difficult to produce individuals who are disciplined and visionary,” he told SH.
