PUTRAJAYA, June 9 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi described the recent discussions between the leadership of Umno and PAS as a positive step towards addressing various issues, including matters not strictly related to politics.
He said such engagements should be seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen dialogue and explore new approaches amid evolving political dynamics.
“We welcome the meeting held between the leadership of Umno and PAS to discuss and resolve several issues and agendas that are not necessarily political in nature.
“If there are matters related to politics, they must be carefully considered, as we are still within the current unity government. That is our fundamental basis and position,” he told reporters after attending Kemas educators’ day celebration programme here today.
He said that the party remains committed to the administration formed under the unity government, which he said is based on shared principles of cooperation and stability.
At the same time, he said there must always be space for open dialogue to allow discussions to continue and for new approaches to be explored should political dynamics change in the future.
“I am confident that there is no problem that cannot be resolved and no difference of opinion that cannot be settled through good discussion,” he added.
He then said that the meeting should be viewed as a positive development that ought to be followed up with further constructive steps.
